Do you find yourself making your child a separate dish for every meal? Does your child refuse to try any of your delicious home cooked foods?

You are not alone.

Most families have at least one child who makes meal time difficult.

Hopefully, these words will encourage you to not give up the fight to help your child eat more foods.

Picky eating is more than just a behavioral concern. Children gravitate towards foods they find easy to eat and with consistent textures. Processed foods such as chicken nuggets, chips, and cookies are formulated for consistent taste and can be easily dissolved in the mouth without trying. If your child struggles with eating different textures, it may be due to an oral motor difficulty or a sensory aversion. Both of these difficulties can be overcome with positive exposures and practice.

Wekiva Kids Therapy offers extensive feeding therapy based on the SOS Feeding Approach that focuses on overcoming sensory aversions, behaviors, and oral motor concerns affecting the overall meal experience.
